Frequently Asked Questions

How long should an auto transport take on average?

Shipping time depends on the transporter; however, we can estimate your shipping time based on historical averages: East Coast to West Coast, 7 to 14 days; Midwest to East Coast, 5 to 8 days; South to the North, 5 to 8 days. All shipping times are estimated. Do not base your transport on these examples without first contacting your shipper for actual scheduled times.

How is a transport supposed to work?

Auto transport is very simple. Once we have found a carrier. You  should receive a call from us and the carrier 3 to 24 hours in advance of your pick up date. The driver will arrive, review the vehicle with you, and load it on the truck. The reverse happens at the delivery point. The driver calls in advance, you will inspect the vehicle for damage, and you will accept delivery.

What should a consumer do if their vehicle arrives with damage?

The first thing you should do is make sure the driver understands that the damage is new and was not on the original bill of lading. The damage should be clearly noted then signed for by the driver. Notify your carrier or broker of the damage immediately. In most cases the carrier will ask for an estimate and send you payment in 2 - 3 weeks. If the carrier is not responsive and unwilling to work with you to resolve the issue, make sure you contact their insurance company and make a claim. Be sure you have all the documentation to back up your claim.

Why does a truck (SUV) shipment cost more than a regular sedan?

Shipments are based on the weight that a truck can legally carry. Therefore, there is a small price increase for a regular truck or S.U.V.

What is a "pick up window" and how does work?

A pick up window refers to the time frame of your pick up date. For example, some shippers may have a 1-14-day window. This means they can pick up your vehicle 1-14 days  after your pick up date. Beware of lower priced carriers who do not specify their pick up dates. You may receive an outstanding price; however, you may not see your vehicle for 4 or 5 weeks. It is very important to make sure the transporter you use will pick up your vehicle within a reasonable time frame.

Is my Vehicle covered by insurance?

There is full-coverage insurance. By law all carriers have to carry a minimum of $1,000,000 liability insurance. This insurance covers any damages to your vehicle in transit with no deductible to you. There is no other insurance. Exception: Automobile personal contents are not covered by any carrier insurance and in most cases will not be covered if lost or stolen.
